Interesting day's riding today.

Firstly, we got the chain ferry across the Danube. Then an steep uphill and gentler downhill through forest tracks, to Kelheim.

Kelheim is probably most well-known for being the place where the cruise boats from the Rhine hit the Danube, via the Main and Altmuhl rivers.

Shortly before Regensburg we hit some rain. This was our first rain since the thunderstorm on the first day of the Danube.

Our accommodation was a slightly dodgy AirBnB in the suburbs. We were met by Ami an Iranian-Israeli. Gareth ended up sleeping in the lounge with some drugged up Croatian. I ended up in a room with Sina, and Iranian med student who was studying in Budapest and some other guy who I never saw.

Anyway, we managed to get some washing done, then found a bus to take us into town.

Had a wander around the old town. Then went to the famous wurst cafe near the old bridge. It started pouring down again and we ended up talking to some Irish boys who were in town for a beer festival.

So when the rain stopped, we made our way over the old bridge to the showgrounds. And, indeed, there was a huge funfair an beer festival, with more dirndls and lederhosen than you could shake a stick at!

After a few beers, we made our way back into town, had dinner at the Regensburger Weissbrauhaus, then home on the bus for an early night.
