Just another typical great day's riding along the Danube.

Lunch in Neustadt.

Our stop for the night was another trip highlight - Weltenberg Abbey. This is a working abbey and reasonably sized commercial brewery - combined!

The abbey buildings surround a courtyard, which is a beer garden. Part of the buildings are the St George Guest House, where anyone can stay. Our room was very spartan, but very clean and modern. It looked out to the Danube.

We had a beer. Gareth went for a dip in the Danube. Then we found a sign to say it was dangerous to swim in the Danube at this point!

Back to the beer garden for food and a beer.

Once the beer garden closed - about 5pm - we went for a walk up the hill to check out the view.

Back in the guest house, there was a common room, where you could relax and help yourself (honesty box system) to the many varieties of Weltenberg beer in the bar fridges! They were only 2.50 euros each.

Loved this place!
