Today was our first experience of riding along the Rhine. This was an easy 38km ride along the western side of the Rhine. We reached St Goar by noon. There is another town, St Goarhausen opposite St Goar on the eastern side of the river. They are joined by a ferry.

We had a few beers and lunch while we were waiting for our room to be serviced in the Hotel Winzerhaus Gartner.

After settling in, we took the ferry across the river and walked up Loreley (Lorelei) Rock too the amphitheatre, which was the venue for a-ha the next day. Oddly enough there was a beer garden at the top, so we enjoyed a couple of beers while taking in the brilliant view of the river below.

Walked back down to the river past Castle Katz. Had a nice dinner in St Goar.
