By this time, we decided we needed a rest from riding, so we caught the train from Trier to Koblenz. This was a lovely ride through the winding Moselle valley, past many vineyards and castles. Koblenz is the point where the Moselle meets the Rhine.

We checked into our apartment - Jargen Ferien Appartements - a nice suburban house, but opposite some sort of youth detention facility, then caught the bus into town.

In town we walked to Deutches Eck – German Corner, which is the actual point where the Moselle meets the Rhine .

Just as we finished taking a few photos, a huge thunderstorm blew through. Luckily we were close to a beer garden. To be fair, you are never actually very far from a beer garden in Germany! We took shelter and comforted ourselves with beer and food, while twigs and branches were dropping on to the roof of the beer garden shelter.

The storm passed and we found the bus back to the apartment.
