We started out from Passau riding on the northern side (left side) of the river.

We stopped to check out the impressive locks at Jochenstein - remember, this is the main rout of the huge Rhine-Danube cruise boats.

Shortly after we crossed the border into a new country - Austria - country #6.

Stopped for lunch at a riverside cafe. Gareth has developed a serious Radler habit!

The Danube is in a reasonably steep-sided, mostly wooded, valley at this point and our AirBnB for the night was up over the valley. We started a grunty climb out of the valley, stopping to check out an abandoned castle-like building on the way up. Once we reached the topped we were into pretty 'Sound of Music' like alpine countryside, with rolling green hills and cows with bells.

Gareth got us to the correct street address for our accommodation. Unfortunately it was in the wrong village and we had another 10km riding to find the right one!

And, to add insult to injury, neither of the two cafe/pubs in the village were open, so we feasted on what we had bought at the supermarket the previous day. I think a can of tuna may have been involved.
