Very hard day – hot and hilly.

We finished off the Vennbahn at Troisvierges, Luxembourg (country #5) – a little, one café town. We then headed toward Wissmansdorf, back in Germany.

Before we left Luxembourg, we stumbled upon the Lancaster memorial at Weiswampach. This memorial commemorates two Lancaster bombers that were shot down nearby. Airman killed were from the RAF (British), RCAF (Canadian) and RNZAF (New Zealand). Despite the fact that there were no Australian fatalities, The flags for Britain, Canada and Australia were on the memorial, but not the NZ flag!

We ended up using Google maps bicycle option for most of our route planning. Strangely, this option was not available in Italy. It was mostly very good. However toward the end of this day, it took us on a very rough track through a wood. I managed to get our first (and only?) puncture. Unfortunately I could not unscrew the pump valve without unscrewing the whole valve. In the end I simply had to pump up the tyre and leave the little flexible adaptor screwed on to the valve and taped up against the spokes.

We ended up at a huge apartment in a small village. – Landgasthaus Blick Im Tals.

We were informed that dinner had been served already (I think just one other family staying) and our only option was the ubiquitous spag bol.! This was at 6pm! They had a small bar serving tap beer, but the owner/farmer was leaving for the night and told us to help ourselves!

We met and had a few beers with a friendly biker and his girlfriend. He was sporting a Loggerheads T-shirt - the name of his MC club and also a town in the UK.

The tap beer ran out pretty quickliy, but we found a stash of bottles!.
