Long day's ride today, heading into the Austrian Alps and lakes.

Easy, but boring, on the Traun River cycleway - R2. Lots of long, straight stretches through the trees.

One dodgy diversion, where we had a little trouble reconnecting with the trail.

Had one of our more interesting lunches - smoked mackerel at a smoked fish cart.

Our accommodation was an aprtment just outside Gmunden, almost on the Traun River.

We cleaned ourselves up, then walked the 20 minutes into town, down the river trail.

Gmunden is a very pretty tourist town at the top of the Traunsee lake. The mountain - Traunstein - looked very impressive.

Somehow, we ended up having dinner at an off-the-beaten-track vegan restaurant - Goldener Hirsch - in fading light, with a bat flying around our heads!
