We would have loved to have biked the whole Danube, at least up to our turn-off at Linz in Austria, but we did not have enough time. Today we took the train from Ulm to Hochdtadt and biked onward from there.

Main reason for visiting Hochstadt is that I lived for a year in Blenheim and still have strong family connections there, and Hochstadt is the site of the Battle of Blenheim (Blindheim).

We visited the Schloss (Castle) Hochstadt, which had a pretty good exhibition on the battle.

Biking on to Donauworth we saw several helicopters flying around and later discovered that Donauworth is home to the Airbus helicopter manufacturing plant.

We arrived mid afternoon at our campground - Beer Garden Gummp - one of our favourite experiences of the trip!

It was basically a rural property, with a small beer garden to the side of the main house, and a camping area among the trees at the back. We were the only campers.

Once we cleaned up, we strolled the 50m to the beer garden for several beers and a hearty beer garden meal, before staggering back to our tents.

The owner had promised us breakfast when we arrived, but he took a bit of persuading to rustle something up for us the next day.
